Sausage and Egg Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:
1 pound breakfast sausage
6 large eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
4 cups cubed bread (preferably day-old)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
1/2 cup diced onions (optional)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
In
a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until
browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
Drain excess grease and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
Add
the cubed bread to the egg mixture, followed by the cooked sausage,
shredded cheddar cheese, bell peppers, and onions if using. Gently fold
everything together until the bread is well coated.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and the top is golden brown.
Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
