Crispy Fried Mushrooms Recipe

Ingredients
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 lb fresh mushrooms (button or cremini work best), cleaned and patted dry
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 large eggs
½ cup milk (or buttermilk)
2 cups breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
Oil, for frying (vegetable or canola)
Instructions
Prep mushrooms: Trim stems if needed. Pat mushrooms completely dry (important for crispiness).
Set up breading station:
Bowl 1: Mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Bowl 2: Beat eggs with milk.
Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs.
Coat
mushrooms: Dredge each mushroom in flour mixture, dip in egg wash, then
roll in breadcrumbs. Press gently to help coating stick.
Fry:
Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushrooms in
small batches 3–4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and
crispy. Don’t overcrowd.
Drain: Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to remove excess oil.
Serve: Best enjoyed hot with ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy sriracha mayo.
Tips & Variations
For a lighter version, air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, spraying lightly with oil.
Add grated Parmesan to the breadcrumb mix for cheesy flavor.
Swap panko for crushed crackers or seasoned breading for variety.
