Gail’s Favorite Apple Crisp (TNT)
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 stick butter -- softened
1/2 cup brown sugar -- packed
1 cup flour
Apples (about 6 Jonathan apples or 4 Granny Smith apples), peeled, sliced
Using a 9x13" glass/ceramic pan, butter sides and bottom. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Fill large 2 quart size bowl with pared apples*. Mix sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle over apples. Mix to coat all apple slices. Add and spread apple mixture in the buttered pan. Set aside.
Mix butter, 1/2 c brown sugar and flour together with hands (do NOT over-mix!). Sprinkle mixture over top of apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Enjoy!
Gail’s Notes: Another oldie but goodie! I’m going to have to remember to make this the next time my grandkids come to visit. Something tells me they’d really like it! (Adding a good-sized scoop of vanilla ice cream on top or beside the apple crisp on a plate prior to serving is pure heaven!)
(*To those who might not know: "Pared" apples are apples that are peeled then sliced.)
